Psalm 55:22 (ESV)
"Cast your burden on the LORD,and he will sustain you;he will not permit the righteous to be moved."
Dear Ministry Partner,

Serving in Haiti at this time can be very discouraging. We'll hear news of small changes and be encouraged but then, that is followed by another that sends us wondering, "What is to become of Haiti?" God's Word and His promises are what keeps us hopeful. His people are still there. He is still doing a work in that country despite the difficulties and the hardships being faced. ESMI must remain faithful to the call of evangelism through church planting and leadership development, and be ready to meet the felt needs of the people.

This leads us to share with you the crossroad we are at: ESMI's Children's Villages are about depleted of food. ESMI relies a lot on the nutritious packages provided by Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) but ESMI's containers of food have not been able to travel to Haiti due to the unrest with the gangs controlling the streets of Port-au-Prince. These gangs make it dangerous and impossible to get to the port. And so we are left with pantries almost bare. But thank God for two generous donors who have given a total of $75,ooo for ESMI to do a matching fund. Why $75,000 and not $50,000 as before? Because ESMI will have to purchase locally, and with inflation and high gas prices, food is extremely expensive. In addition, the food will not only be for the children but also for their communities. We cannot serve the children without ministering also to those in their surrounding communities.

Will you partner with ESMI in providing food in Cayes, Gonaives, Mirebalais and Jeremie?

EVANGELISM: Church Planting

No one can stop the work of God. He is changing lives and have given the pastors a heart of perseverance. Thanks to our ministry partners, over the Christmas ESMI received funds to build 5 new churches in the Artibonite Department. Here are photos of one of the 5 church plant showing before and after.

EVANGELISM: Leadership Development

In our 2022 Summer Update, we shared with you the importance of building a training center in the Central Plateau Department. This center will serve as an extension of the University of Jeremie School of Theology. Currently, there are 72 pastors and leaders in training. We praise God for our ministry partner who made this possible. Photo below, taken on Janaury27, 2023, shows first floor of training center and preparations in constructing the second floor which will serve as dorms for the pastors. To God be the glory!

EDUCATION

For the past 3 years, the school on the Children's Village campus in Gonaives, has seen 100% success in the national exams. Because of this, the enrollment is up to 600 students. Thankful to our ministry parnters who have funded the construction of a new school.

EMPATHY: Orphan-Care and Disaster Relief

Caring for the children continues to be a challenge as they mature. ESMI is thankful for ministry partners who have come alongside to help bear this burden. At the Widow's Village, the girls aging-out are paired with a widow who will teach them life-skills. The Widow's Village provides the opportunity to minister to both the widows and the orphans on one campus.Currently, six individual widow's homes are being built as a ministry to the community.

Thankful to ministry partner who made it possible to build 10 homes for the 2021 earthquake victims. Lord willing, 10 more will be built in the coming month. To God be the glory!

Praise & Prayer Requests

*Please continue to prayer for Haiti. It is in these darkest moments that the Light of the Gospel will shine brightest. Thank you for coming alongside ESMI. By God's grace we will keep moving forward in teaching and serving the Church in Haiti.

*Pray for the pastors as they are in the forefront. They are the ones caring for the orphans, their congregation, and their families. They are the ones ministering consistently and sharing the hope of the Gospel. Here are a few names: Pastors Ezechiel, Moril, Honore, Eden, Mongerard, Vilma, Keller, and Serge.

*Pray for the success of the $75,000 Matching Fund Food Drive.

*Continue to pray for ongoing training in Montreal, Canada and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The pastoral training in Montreal went well in January. There were 27 men in training and one flew from Paris, France, to participate. He hopes this training will come to Paris to minister to the Haitian communities there. Pray for the training in the DR at the end of February.

*Continue to pray for the planning and construction of the youth center on the El Shaddai Community Church campus in Winter Haven, Florida, to come together really soon.*Pray for plans and preparations for the new church plant in Haines City, Florida.

*In the next several weeks, Dony will share about the ministry at three missions conferences. Please pray for him.

*Thank the Lord for His provision, through our ministry partners, to build 5 churches. We are praying for resources to build 7 more in 2023.

*Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2022 Christmas catalog. Two pastors received motorcyles and are very grateful. Pastor Vilma who serves in Les Cayes, photo below, is all smiles with his new motorcyle.
