"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."~ Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)
Dear Ministry Partner,
It's been a while since our last update. There is so much to share. We hope that the short video below and photos will capture what our partnership in the ministry of the Gospel has accomplished.
On Saturday, August 14, 2021, when the earthquake struck southern Haiti, we didn't know what to do other than for you, our brothers and sisters, to join us in prayer. As we prayed together, the Lord worked wonders beyond our imagination!
NEW HOMES IN ST. LOUIS:
The St. Louis community made the video below to thank ESMI for the homes in their community. But the thanks are really to you, our ministry partners, for making this possible. You have made it possible for ESMI to build 18 new homes for families who were affected by the quake.
Summary of "St. Louis - Thank You " Video:
*Six homes built in this community
*Testimony of three of the families. The first lady speaks of her family getting wet when the rain fell. Her home, after the quake, was made of the banana leaves and tarp. And now, her family has shelter from the rain
*Testimony of the second lady speaks of how she lived in the mud with the pigs but now you have given her a home.
*Testimony #3 - This lady too speaks of how wet everything got when it rained and now, she has a home not just for herself but also for her neighbors. When it rains, she is glad to share her home with others.
*The video will also show a group of people seated, holding white envelops in their hands. They too are saying, "Thank you." Each envelop has a voucher to their local hardware store where they can pick up zinc roofing and cement to repair their homes. These materials were paid in advance by ESMI.
*Food vouchers were also given in a similar manner. Thank you for making it possible for ESMI to do all this for the St. Louis community. (Photo: Old home and new home)
MORE HOMES NEEDED:
*ESMI has a list of 36 families needing assistance to rebuild their homes.
*Areas of focus: Casa Major, La Hatte, St. Louis and Baydumel.
*Each home has two bedrooms, living and dining, and a front porch as seen in video.
*Construction cost of a home is $10,000
*Photo shows a family of 10, with their current home in the background.
CHURCH CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:
Pastor Clotaire of Casa Major Update:
On August 31, 2021, we shared with you how Pastor Clotaire lost his home, the church, medical clinic and classrooms at the Casa Major ministry center. As the bull dozers came through, over 25 years of ministry buildings were demolished, and the center was left void of his home and these facilities. Today, because of your partnership, a new church now stands on the property. To God be the glory!
Last September when ESMI leaders visited the pastor of St. Helene, he raised his arms toward heaven, and burst into praise, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not his benefits."
St. Helene's New Church
Today, there is a new church at St. Helene. We are overflowing with thankfulness to God for your partnership in making this possible!
Despite continued unrest in Haiti, the Gospel is still moving forward into communities.
EVANGELISM: LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
*Since January, ESMI key pastors have met at least four times for training in Port-au-Prince and Jeremie.
*Two weeklong trainings were done in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with WordPartners.(Photo: Leadership Training in Santo Domingo)
*Monthly leadership training continues in the cities of: Mirebalais, Gonaives and Anse Rouge, north of Port-au-Prince.
El Shaddai Community Church celebrated its one-year anniversary over the Easter weekend with its first missions conference. Theme of the conference, "Growing Stronger Together, Reaching Farther Together." It was an exciting time to introduce world missions to our Haitian community. Lord's willing, over the summer, ESCC, hopes to become a particularized church in our PCA denomination. Pray with us as we train ruling elders to prepare for examination in May.

Praise God for the resources provided to rebuild homes for the poorest of the poor. Pray that additional funds will be raised to rebuild 36 more homes. The cost of a 2 bedroom home is $10,000.
Praise & Prayer Requests
Praise God for the opportunity to share at the recent annual convention for the Baptist Mission in Southern Haiti (MEBSH). This mission has lost over 300 churches and schools. Pray that ESMI can assist MEBSH in rebuilding at least 20 of their churches, and 10 more ESMI/MERH churches.
MATCHING FUND FOOD DRIVE COMING SOON!
Praise God that ESMI was able to do two food distribution in five departments in December and February. In the next few weeks, ESMI hopes to have a matching fund food drive. Pray for God's provision.
Praise God for ministry partners who provided the resources for ESMI's radio station, Sauveur de Sel (A Savoring Tast of Salt), to reach many more people across the island of Haiti with reformed gospel teaching.
Praise God for the people He is bringing to El Shaddai Community Church in Winter Haven, Florida. Pray that God will provide the resources to build a youth center to reach not only the second and third generation Haitian youth, but other youth in the community. Pray that God will provide a youth pastor for this ministry.
SPECIAL PRAYER REQUESTS:
* Many of you may not have known that Fanuel became very ill. He is now in the Dominican Republic receiving treatment. Pray for his full recovery. We miss him dearly. (Photo- L-R: Mary Phil, Fanuel, and Fanuelson)
* May 25-29, Missions de Eglise Reformees d'Haiti (MERH), the national denomination under which all ESMI churches fall, will have its second General Assembly in Jeremie. Theme this year is: "Be an Agent of Transformation."
i.) Pray for safety for the pastors and congregation as they travel from five different departments to participate. Last year, over 3,000 were present. We anticipate more.
